Have things been feeling a bit emotionally intense for you lately? Are you finding yourself in unexpected arguments with loved ones, confronting deep fears and major changes, navigating sudden endings that you never saw coming? Yet, underneath all of the chaos, there’s something secretly cathartic about it all, isn’t there? A relief of letting go of what no longer serves you, knowing you’re clearing space for what is truly aligned to bloom. The discomfort is the price of transformation, and that’s exactly what September’s eclipse season is all about.
What is Eclipse Season?
An eclipse season is a roughly month-long window that occurs about twice a year in which the Sun, Earth, and Moon align perfectly. This lends to a solar and/or lunar eclipse. Depending on where you are in the world, the phenomenon can be visible to the eye, though no matter what, you’ll always be subject to the emotional turmoil.
An intense astrological transit, if an eclipse promises anything, it’s change, drama, growth, and maybe even a few sleepless nights. Think of an eclipse as a full or new moon on steroids. It is always going to elicit emotional shifts, revelations, major beginnings or endings, and unexpected events. Luckily, they don’t occur often, and they’re always for your highest good.
September 2025 Eclipse Season
This month has brought on some pretty intense eclipse weather, and we’re only about halfway through it. September 7th’s full moon in Pisces was the lunar eclipse to kick off the season, centered on themes of purging, emotional clarity, letting go of illusions, honoring your intuition, and allowing what was once hidden to come to light.
September 21st promises to close this eclipse window with the new moon in Virgo, aka a solar eclipse. This transit will bring on plenty of new beginnings (though not at the cost of a few endings), a demand for self-care, and implementing the necessary boundaries. This energy will linger roughly until the 24th. These are some pretty big energetic shifts, so expect some old wounds to surface, as well as feelings of restlessness and vulnerability. Things you’ve been ignoring will refuse to be ignored during eclipse season, though it’s witnessing them that ultimately heals them. Bravery is always rewarded, and with endings and goodbyes come new opportunities for fresh starts.
How to Survive Eclipse Season
Being that this eclipse season is under Virgo’s influence, it’s important to work with the energy by intention setting, committing to a routine that serves you, becoming more organized, and getting clear on what you want and where you need boundaries. Take the aligned action to work for yourself, never against yourself.
Things tend to shift unexpectedly, so it’s often advised not to commit to or launch super big things during eclipse season, as things can shift unexpectedly. Be flexible and save the major contracts for October if possible. With that, it’s important to release yourself from the prison of trying to control everything. All will develop as divinely intended, so let it unfold without micromanaging every detail. And most importantly, even when the tides get rough, know that it is all happening for your highest interest so that you can evolve into the next, up-leveled version of yourself.
