Hot on the heels of yesterday’s news of a new Feature Writers Program with Walt Disney Studios, The Black List script site has announced a partnership with WIGS, a leading digital studio and Fox series incubator for female-targeted scripted drama.
WIGS will use the Black List site as a pipeline to find new writers based on the teleplays they submit on the site, and will ultimately identify one writer to develop a series.
Writers can submit material and opt into consideration on the Black List site until May 6. The Black List will choose a short list of five writers based on the evaluations of its online community, with WIGS making the final choice of who will receive a digital series script deal.
Launched in May 2012 by writer-director-producers Jon Avnet, Rodrigo Garcia and Jake Avnet, WIGS has created over 150 episodes of scripted content, including 15 high-end original series, seven short films and 10 documentaries, all starring female leads. One of its best known series is BLUE, starring Julia Stiles as a single mother trying to protect her son from the consequences of her secret career as an upscale escort.
The network’s series are available on Hulu, Hulu+, and watchwigs.com.
More details on the partnership, and how to submit, can be found at The Black List HERE.
