The part that had us all furrowing our brows was the announcement of a reality dating show during the annual marathon of VH1 classics The Flavor of Love and I Love New York. Trey Songz, a sex symbol for women of all ages, needed to find love through a reality show? Something wasn’t adding up.
Hosted by Draya Michele and Steelo Brim, Tremaine The Playboy premiered on its website last night and it’s obvious that the bachelor-esque show is nothing but a new way to promote the album. Slick. The video shows a solid 6 minutes of Trigga, the girls, and his closest friends and family including his mother, April Tucker, talking about Tremaine's quest to true love. Around the 7 minute mark, it transitions into an official music video for the album’s first single.
Trey Songz stopped by Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club and explained the “gag” (no KeKe Palmer) behind the whole reality show. It was nothing more than a music video production and with each single, we will get a new episode. So whether you believed it, hated it, loved the idea or couldn’t care less, it was innovative and it got the people going.
We’ll be tuning in just to see how it all plays out.
