Young Dolph's hometown of Memphis, Tennessee, will honor his contributions to the city by memorializing his name. On Friday, the Memphis City Council announced it intends to rename a street after the slain rapper, located at the intersection close to the Memphis Depot Industrial Park, reports TMZ.
An unveiling ceremony for the street will occur on Dec. 15, and will include city officials and Dolph's family members. City Councilman J.B. Smiley initiated renaming the street once he received the blessings of Dolph's family.

Dolph's family said the street name will be a constant reminder to the residents of the Castalia Heights community that anyone who represents hard work and determination can achieve greatness.
“[Young Dolph] sent the message that someone who went to the same schools as them, and walked the same streets that they do, was able to not only create a successful legacy for himself, but also prioritized family and community,” Dolph’s family said in a statement.
Young Dolph, whose real name is Adolph Thorton Jr., was killed on Nov. 17 after purchasing cookies from the popular small business Makeda's Homemade Cookies. The altruistic rapper returned to Memphis to participate in his annual turkey giving away in time for Thanksgiving.
Dolph's homegoing was a private affair and was held on Nov. 30 in Memphis.
