A video clip of an interview with Williams, aka “Big Jeff,” has gone viral. The incarcerated rapper’s dad was a guest on Infamous Sylvia, a YouTube show hosted by lifestyle and court blogger Sylvia. During the live-streamed discussion, the host asked: “How do you feel about Gunna” in regards to the YSL Rico case? “I love Gunna,” he responded.

The interviewer then mentioned how “people don’t understand the relationship” between the two rappers and ran with the narrative that the “fukumean” artist is a “rat” because he pleaded guilty to his RICO charge and was released from jail early last December. Williams wanted to let the truth be known about the YSL Records and 300 Entertainment signee.

“No, no…let me try to help the attorney clarify that a little simpler,” he said. “Gunna hasn’t done anything whatsoever that can hurt us on this case…period.”

“For all of you who are listening, you have different types of attorneys. You got attorneys that are trial lawyers, you got attorneys that are plea lawyers, you got attorneys that are lawyers who just practice law on a criminal base. The only thing they want to do is satisfy a case,” he added. “What people don’t understand is sometimes your lawyer can take a plea for you, and when he presents that plea to you, he’s going to tell you everything convincing to make you think that that plea is what you need to take. And you being the type of person that Gunna is, you trust your lawyer. Gunna is not a street kid. He’s not a kid that’s down like that.”

He revealed there is a recording of the 30-year-old telling lawyers that he didn’t want to take a plea deal and leave Young Thug behind bars.

“What you all don’t know is Gunna has a recorded plea,” Williams said. “In his recorded plea he states, ‘I’m not taking a plea deal ’cause I’m not leaving my brother in jail.’ They just didn’t let y’all hear that.

He continued, “So what his lawyer did was, his lawyer agreed to the after plea for him not to have to testify, for him not to have to do nothing to be released from this case. Right now, Gunna can separate himself from this case permanently…just by doing his community service.”

In an interview eight months ago on the same show, he said the media and blogs are publishing misleading stories about the YSL case for clickbait.

“I’ve always raised my kids, and I was raised, to not entertain crap,” he told Sylvia. “And to me, the bloggers are putting out crap for ratings. And who wouldn’t want to do that? Who wouldn’t want to get their 15 minutes of fame? Who wouldn’t want to have, you know, something to put that out in the air to say you know…it’s a possible chance this, that, or the third.”

As Blavity reported, Gunna addressed the snitching accusations that were circulating when he released the video for “Bread and Butter.”

“While I have agreed to always be truthful,” the College Park native said at the time. “I want to make it perfectly clear that I have NOT made any statements, have NOT been interviewed, have NOT cooperated, have NOT agreed to testify or be a witness for or against any party in the case and have absolutely NO intention of being involved in the trial process in any way.”
