Here’s your chance to see several French films you may not get to see otherwise – at least 1 of them we’ve previously highlighted on this blog: a French/Senegalese drama titled Like a Lion, which centers on a 15 year old Senegalese boy named Mitri Diop, who, after being targeted by a recruiter, leaves Senegal to try and realize his dream of becoming a professional footballer in France. The annual My French Film Festival is an online event that lets audiences almost all over the world discover new French cinema via the web. Now in its 4th year, the online festival runs from January 17 to February 17 at the festival’s website, MyFrenchFilmFestival.com.
Film enthusiasts around the globe will be able to access all the films in the festival’s 4th edition lineup, online, for a fee, of course; 10 features and 10 shorts are in competition, available in several different languages, including Arabic, Chinese, English, Finnish, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and Turkish.
Audiences are invited to rate and comment on all the films, with those receiving the top scores awarded and shown aboard all Air France flights.
While you have to pay a fee to watch the films (like almost every other film festival), audiences can watch, free-of-charge, exclusive interviews with the directors and actors.
What it costs to watch:
– Rental of a feature film: 1.99€ (or about $2.70)
– Rental of a short: 0.99€ (about $1.35)
– Or you could buy the Feature Pack, which gives you access to all the features: 11.99€ (about $16.40)
– Shorts Pack: 5.99€ for one access to the shorts (about $8.20)
– There’s also the Full Access Pack, which gives you access to the entire lineup of both shorts and features: 15.99€ (about $21.90)

But, in what I’d say is a familiar theme of a handful of similar movies we’ve featured, when he arrives in Paris, the reality is quite different, and far more challenging, than anything he’d imagined. Once in Paris, everything collapses, and Mitri finds himself suddenly without a penny in his pocket, and simply can’t bring himself to face the shame that he feels he would be met with, if he returned back to Senegal without a dream realized..
The film is directed by Samuel Collardey, and stars Mytri Attal, Marc Barbé, and Jean-François Stévenin.
It opened in France theaters last year, but hasn’t traveled, so this is your chance to check it out – for the rest of the world outside of France, starting January 17, 2014.
