Yung Miami, one-half of the City Girls, has confirmed the duo are pursuing solo careers.
In a recent interview with Complex, she candidly discussed her relationship with JT and the factors that have led them to focus on solo projects. Revealing insights into their decision-making process, the rapper shed light on their mutual understanding and desire for personal growth and artistic exploration beyond the group’s collaborative efforts.
“You know, like, we older now and [JT] was doing her own thing, she was on the West Coast, I’m in Miami doing my own thing, and I felt like naturally, when she doing her own thing, it just work for her. And when I’m doing my own thing, it work for me,” Miami told the outlet.

One key factor that influenced the group’s decision to split was the performance of their recent album, Raw, released in October. This album fell short of the success achieved by their two previous albums since their formation in 2018.
“I think when the City Girls album just dropped, and it didn’t do too well, and we was just trying to do our press run, the whole rollout of the album was just so bad because we was just in two different spaces,” the 30-year-old expressed.
The Miami-based rap duo has had a string of hits throughout its career. From chart-toppers like “Twerk” and “Act Up” to crowd favorites such as “Rodeo” and “P***y Talk,” its infectious beats and catchy lyrics have made it synonymous with summer anthems, captivating audiences and dominating the airwaves.
For Miami, she feels their chemistry has faded, making parting ways seem the best move for now.
“But when we get together as a group, it just wasn’t connecting,” Miami said. “It just wasn’t working no more. So I think we both was at a point where we was just like, we should probably just do our own s**t. But that was the point for me.”
Since then, the duo has released solo tracks, hinting at forthcoming individual projects. JT’s “Okay” has already made waves just in time for the summer, while Miami’s “CFWM” featuring Skilla Baby signals the beginning of a new chapter for both artists.
In April, Blavity reported that Yung Miami and JT traded insults on X, formerly Twitter. The feud started as both women went back and forth on the social media platform, with Miami calling her former groupmate “weird” and JT accusing her of “attention-seeking.” After a much-needed phone conversation, the rappers concluded the rift, stating they love each other.
