Zoe Kravitz will not be boxed in by anyone, so you can stop trying! For as long as I’ve been following her acting career, her choices have been unpredictable. You just don’t know what she’s going to take on next, whether an indie film that challenges, like Victoria Mahoney’s underseen "Yelling to the Sky," or a tent-pole studio project like "X-Men: First Class," and everything between. Oh, and by the way, she also served as lead singer and co-writer with her band, "Elevator Fight."
Announced today, she’s chosen to tackle a western next, as Deadline reports that Ms Kravitz is set to star as "a gunslinging hit woman from the Old West," in a gritty revenge thriller titled "Black Belle," which will be set just after the end of the Civil War.
She will place a loner bounty hunter "who specializes in revenge killing when a client shows up with information about her mother’s murderer. It takes a turn when she realizes just who the alleged killer really is."
Filming is set to begin this September, with Shana Betz ("Free Ride") directing, from an original screenplay by Tasha Huo.
Chad Simpson’s Brain Scratch Prods producing, alongside Mark Canton and Lawrence Smith’s Mad Riot Entertainment.
It’s been a busy 2015 for Zoe Kravitz, which includes appearances in this summer’s R-rated "Mad Max: Fury Road," as well as in "Good Kill" with Ethan Hawke, and Rick Famuyiwa’s buzzy dramedy "Dope" (which opens on June 19). She just finished filming Gerardo Naranjo’s "Viena and the Fantomes" opposite Dakota Fanning, as well as "Vincent-N-Roxxy" with Emilie Hirsch.
She’s also very much a part of Lionsgate’s "Divergent" franchise of films, which includes "Insurgent" and the upcoming "Allegiant,"
