If you're a makeup lover, or even just someone who wants to know more about makeup, you know that there is a huge market out there. With so many brands and products, it can be very easy to get confused and not even know where to start. It can be especially hard to find products that specifically cater to black skin and our many varieties. More and more black owners are giving us the products we want and need, and I've put together a few that you should check out.

1. The Lip Bar

2. Beauty Bakerie

Beauty Bakerie was started by a woman who wanted to create a brand that contradicted the popular ‘bad girl’ persona the mainstream was pedaling – to show girls that there’s nothing wrong with upholding a sweet and friendly nature. They have everything from eyes, lips, and face. The light and cool makeup are perfect for a cute and cool vibe.

BLAC Minerals Cosmetics produces all natural makeup for women of color. They create products that are powered by healthy, skin-loving ingredients, and formulate products with nature in mind so you can feel good about everything they make. It's a great brand to get rid of the undertones that many makeup companies give us without considering how different our skin tones can be. BLAC is mineral makeup for us, by us.

4. Coloured Raine

Founded in 2013 by Loraine, who longed for a cosmetic line that encouraged self-expression and diversity, these stand-out cosmetics break all beauty barriers. They have lips, eyes, facial glow glitters, and nail products. There's a nice variety of textures and shades that make this a great brand to try.

5. Luv Mineral Cosmetics

Luv Cosmetics was started in 2012 by make-up artist, collegiate beauty marketing instructor and entrepreneur, Melodie Ray Davis-Bundrage.  Luv believes that cosmetics should celebrate and enhance the love we have for God, ourselves, other people and culture. Their products are natural, organic, and non-toxic. Check them out for all your natural beauty needs.

6. Plain Jane Beauty

Plain Jane Beauty has all your facial needs, from foundation and powder to primer and highlights. They also have eyeshadows, brow creme, lashes, and lipsticks. PJB is an eco-beauty color cosmetics line, inspired by nature’s brilliant colors. We blend aesthetics with ethics; beauty with sustainability in order to provide the tools to look good and do good without sacrificing your sense of beauty or wellness. They have over 17 shades to choose from.

7. Sacha Cosmetics

Sacha Cosmetics is a veteran in black, vegan makeup. Sacha Cosmetics began operations in 1979 in Trinidad and Tobago which is an ethnically diverse market. Their vision was to develop a brand of makeup that all women, regardless of ancestry, could wear. Their brand has expanded to 500 retail stores in 45 countries. They definitely have products in all categories of makeup, in every shade. Great, quality, vegan and cruelty-free makeup.

8. Bee-Q-Box

This is one of my faves. BEEQBOX sells "F*ckboy Repellent" products. From setting spray, highlight, and a glitter palette, this is quality makeup. The glitter palette is amazingly pigmented, and the brand continues to grow. The best part is that it was started only a year ago in September 2016 all by a college student. You go, girl!

9. Almeda Cosmetics

Almeda Cosmetics are handmade, cruelty and paraben free, and beautiful quality. The pigment and quality of this makeup are amazing to me. A newer company, people should definitely check them out. They have matte and lip pigments that will be the perfect accent to your look.

10. APDG

The range and availability of shades from this brand is ah-mazing. In a world where black women are constantly asking for more shades and range, APDG delivers. Not only do they have an amazing range of foundation, concealers, and powder, they also have nail lacquers that you'll love. A brand that's located in the South, they have a formula that combats the negative effects of humidity, heat, sweat, and rain. A must try!
