Phoebe Robinson and Jessica Williams’ 2 Dope Queens, based on their popular podcast, is gracing HBO once again with a second season of four hour-long specials beginning Feb. 8 at 11 p.m. ET
Directed by Sandra Restrepo and taped in front of a live audience at Kings Theatre Brooklyn, Williams and Robinson will talk about various topics with star guests, such as Lupita Nyong’o, Daniel Radcliffe, Janet Mock, Lizzo, and Keegan-Michael Key. Comedians who will join Williams and Robinson include Rory Scovel, Bowen Yang, Solomon Georgio, Jamie Lee and Pat Brown.
“Throughout the four specials these Cocoa Khaleesis discuss their favorite childhood memories, how to curate the best sex playlist and their favorite fashion moments, all while serving LEWKS and delivering their signature hilarious banter,” states the official description.
The special jump-starting this season is “Fashion,” in which Williams and Richardson talk about fashion moments with Nyong’o before be challenged to a braiding competition. “Nostalgia” airs Feb. 15, with Williams and Richardson discussing their childhood favorites, with Radcliffe joining to test his friendship with Williams. “Music,” airing Feb. 22, features the hosts and Janet Mock talking about Ball Culture and musical faves, as well as Lizzo, who holds a lesson how to play the flute. The final episode, “Regal AF,” airs March 1 and features the hosts wearing their finest regalia to talk about their most recent indulgences in luxury. They are later joined by Key to play a game of impressions.
We learned 2 Dope Queens had been renewed for a second season in July. The first season was directed by Tig Notaro and featured stars such as Uzo Aduba, Titus Burgess, Jon Stewart and Sarah Jessica Parker.
Williams can be seen in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. Robinson can be seen in the upcoming comedy What Men Want, starring Taraji P. Henson, Feb. 8.
