When I was growing up, movies were a very important part of my daily schedule (when I wasn’t outside playing around in the dirt or getting into mischief with the other kids in the neighborhood). The animated version of Cinderella was one of my favorites during my childhood, but then I was graced with the 1997 adaptation of the movie and my world would be forever changed. There is no doubt in my mind that this version of Cinderella was 1000x better than every other version. Brandy, Whitney AND Whoopi? GIRL — the animated version has no ground in this competition. Below you will find eight reasons why the 1997 adaptation of Cinderella is the best.

1. The music was everything.

2. Point. Blank. Period.

3. Interracial couples? YAS!

4. Whitney Houston was the fairy godmother and served us natural queen realness.
