The robotic pizza company Zume has raised $48 million in funding closing in on their original goal of $50 million courtesy of a new series B.

Cofounders/co-CEOs Julia Collins and Alex Garden have confirmed to TechCrunch that they have raised this amount. “We’ve recently closed a round from leading investors to support our hiring and market growth,” the statement read. The details of their funding have also been documented in a SEC filing that is available to the public.

Their company has gained popularity in recent years because it has set out to automate mundane aspects of the pizza making process like spreading the sauce. And there are efforts to make cooking safer by programming bots to put pizzas into the oven.

According to TechCrunch, Zume will try its hands at creating an "Amazon of Food" as well as making automation a reality in the food industry. Robots in the kitchen will hopefully allow people to focus on recipes and creativity instead of menial tasks.

This great news proves that black women are ahead of the curve. Keep on winning!
