Sheryl Underwood had some words for Fox 5 D.C. anchors who called a Black teen “obnoxious” after he was accepted to 20 colleges.

Underwood was sitting with her co-host on the daytime talk show, "The Talk," and became emotional when the women began discussing the two anchors who criticized 17-year-old Micheal Brown.

“We live in a country where the child did something that was not obnoxious. He did something that was courageous. He did something that was daring,” a tearful Underwood said. “Sometimes, we don’t want to hear your opinion.”

Underwood went on to address the disparities young Black men face when obtaining an education.

“This little boy has so much against him because of the color of his skin. He might not be able to go anywhere in this world but his brain took him to 20 schools,” she continued.

She also suggested adults stop being so critical of teens that are trying to do good, like activist and Parkland survivor David Hogg.

“Stop criticizing them and cheer these children on!  Cheer them on!,” Underwood concluded.

Underwood’s co-host, Sharon Osbourne, backed her colleague.

“It’s his moment. All his hard work has paid off. And if he wanted to apply to 30, 40, or 50, just leave him be! Let him have his moment!” Osbourne quipped.

Their fellow co-host Eve pointed to media images of Black men when describing why this story meant so much to her.

“Obnoxious was just the wrong word,” said the rapper. “I feel like, for me, at a time where there is so much negativity with Black men on our television screens with news stories, we need to hear this.”

Brown went viral after a video of him and his family reacting to his acceptance to 20 universities, with full scholarships, hit the internet. Two Fox News anchors made the story even bigger after they criticized him for applying to so many schools, calling his decision “obnoxious.”

“I think it is ridiculous to apply to 20 schools," said one anchor, while her co-hosts agreed. "And you are taking a spot from someone else."
