It's been 15 years since T.I.'s Trap Muzik album was released, which paid tribute to Atlanta's rich history in the rap game.
Now, Clifford "Tip" Harris is showing his love for his city once more by serving as the curator of a pop-up trap museum. The Fader reports the museum will showcase major MCs in the "trap" subgenre of rap, its origins and impact on pop culture as a whole.
Rap has only been one aspect of T.I.'s brand. He has led the charge for revitalizing his old community, and also created business ventures in tech, film and TV. So, this move is fitting.
Debates over whether or not T.I. started the subgenre has been a major topic of discussion for some time, and it seems this museum is his way of making a statement.
T.I., of course, won't be the only rapper featured. New rappers to the game, such as 21 Savage, and O.G.s like, Rick Ross, Future, Gucci Mane and the late Shawty Lo will have their work showcased, as well.
"Regardless of our personal differences or discrepancies," the "Live Your Life" rapper wrote on Twitter. "It is what it is … Trap Muzik wouldn’t be S**T without ALL OF US!!!"
The museum will also be interactive. There will be an "Escape the Trap" room, requiring attendees to use codes to break out.
While a location has yet to be released, the museum doors will open September 30.
