To Angela Bassett and Courtney B. Vance, their daughter, Bronwyn Vance, was the belle of the ball at this year’s Le Bal des Débutantes, held on Saturday at the Hotel Shangri-La Paris. The proud parents looked on as the 19-year-old made her formal debut at the exclusive event, which welcomed 20 young women under 21 from influential families worldwide and is often dubbed “The Met Gala for Teenagers.” Bassett and Vance even took to the dance floor to celebrate the special night.
Bronwyn and Courtney kicked off the festivities with a daughter-father dance
According to Vogue, Bronwyn, who stunned in a Stéphane Rolland white tulle gown with gold details, kicked off the night’s festivities with the help of her dad, who joined her on the dance floor for an opening daughter-father dance. The debutante ball was a family affair for the Vance-Bassett family as Bronwyn’s twin brother, Slater Vance, was her escort for the evening.
Vance and Bassett, who wore a sparkling floor-length gown, took to the dance floor. In a TikTok video, the couple can be seen showing off their moves alongside other attendees.
Despite seeming right at home at the ball, Bassett told Hello! that before Bronwyn’s invitation, she was unfamiliar with the ball, and it “felt a little out of the blue initially.”
“I wouldn’t think it a normal occurrence to be vetted and invited onto a world stage at such an age,” she said, adding that she “was swept away” by the 19-year-old’s excitement about the opportunity.
Bronwyn is one of several Hollywood nepo babies to have attended the ball
Bronwyn — who is studying film and sociology at Harvard — is one of several Hollywood nepo babies who have participated in the ball, including Apple Martin, Lily Collins, Margaret Qualley, Ava Philippe, Lori Harvey and Scout Willis, The Cut reported.
According to People, Le Bal 2024 included Nicole Ari Parker and Boris Kodjoe’s daughter, Sophia. The outlet mentioned that Bronwyn made her debut alongside Lady Araminta Spencer-Churchill, a descendant of Winston Churchill; Carolina Lansing, granddaughter of fashion designer Carolina Herrera; and Ruby Kemper, granddaughter of the late Kirk Kerkorian, who owned MGM Studios, among others.
