An Arizona teen dodged death after being struck by lightning.
Josiah Wiedman was walking home in the rain when he felt, what he describes as "a little bit of heat," before everything went black, according to ABC. Lightning struck him, and his heart stopped. Cory Cieszynsky, a nearby resident, saw the unconscious 13-year-old on the ground and quickly performed CPR before paramedics arrived.
"For Cory to be inside his house and to hear this and investigate and run outside and run to my son's aid, he's an angel, and I can't thank him enough," said William Wiedman, Josiah's father.
Two young girls who are friends of Josiah's also saw the unconscious teen laying on the sidewalk and ran to notify his mother.
The young survivor was in critical condition upon his arrival at the hospital. Doctors didn't believe he would make it. However, the electricity hit his heart but didn't damage other organs, which played a part in the reason the real-life Superman is alive today, along with the CPR, according to his doctor. Weidman, who proved doctors wrong with a miraculously speedy recovery, is feeling like “Superman.”
Josiah's friend, Javier Tapia, was with him at the time of the incident and was also struck by lightning. He only suffered minor injuries. Wiedman’s mom, Krista Wiedman, believes the skateboard her son was holding took most of the heat from the bolt.
“Dang, I survived it,” the teen said in shock. “I was dead for like 15 minutes. Dang. I beat death.”
