Rep. Maxine Waters is still reclaiming her time and fighting back with a vengeance when people try to silence her. Earlier this week, the Democratic congresswoman went toe-to-toe with Republican officials as they worked to repeal the Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection’s auto lending guidance, an Obama-era rule which stops discrimination in auto lending. While the house successfully rolled back the legislation, what they will never successfully do is speak over our Auntie Maxine.

In the video, Trump-loving Pennsylvania congressman Mike Kelly can be heard spewing backward logic and incredulously asserting the best way to "Make America Great Again" is to stop talking about discrimination.

"We're trying to make America great every day and every way," Kelly declared to Waters. "The best way to do that is to stop talking about discrimination and start talking about the nation. We're coming together as a people in spite of what you say."

In true Auntie Maxine fashion, she quickly responded to the nonsense with a classy and quick read.

"I want you to know that I am more offended as an African-American woman than you will ever be. And this business about making America great again, it is your president that's dividing this country, and don't talk to me about the fact that we don't understand," she said to the congressman who had the audacity to tell a black woman born during Jim Crow that she doesn't understand discrimination. "No, I will not yield; no, I will not yield. Don't tell me we don't understand, that's the attitude given toward women time and time again."

Waters was met with more Republican pushback when Republican chair Tom McClintock told her to stop talking to Kelly and direct her concerns to the chair.

"Don't stop me in the middle when you didn't stop him in the middle. And so, I shall continue," Waters responded before directing her attention to Kelly once again. "Don't you dare talk to me like that and think that somehow women don't understand what goes on on the floors of automobile dealers."

Once again, she was hushed by McClintock only to reclaim her time and let the chair know that he's not too high and mighty to get called out either.

"You did not interrupt [Kelly] when he was making those outrageous remarks about him knowing more about discrimination than I know about discrimination. I resent that, and I resent the talk about making America great again. He’s down here making a speech [about] this dishonorable president of the United States of America… and no, I don’t yield (to Kelly), not one second to you. Not one second. Not one second to you."

What Auntie Maxine may have just done is given us our 2018 mantra. As we continue to reclaim our time, know that we will not yield one second to the BS.
