There is no particular age to start your career or pursue your dream. Just ask 8-year-old Quinelius Jones who has been cutting hair and giving people new, fresh looks since he was just four years old.
Quinelius was inspired to cut hair after watching his father, Quintin Patrick, cut. Patrick has been a professional barber for 20 years, and he truly believes that his son will be just as good as he is at age 12. When Quinelius was six, Patrick began to hone his son's craft even though the young barber was interested in hair since four.
“That’s when I was really like trusting him. Okay, let me put these clippers in your hand and see what you can really do,” Patrick told Fox 13.
His popularity grew after Patrick shared multiple videos of his son's talent on Instagram. As his talent gained him new Internet fame, Quinelius was contacted by a producer from the Steve Harvey daytime talk show.
“She's like, ‘Hi I’m from The Steve Harvey Show. We are amazed at what your son is doing and we would love to have him on,’” said the proud father.
To Patrick, his son can help be a positive force in Memphis and can help other kids by being a role model.
“I think he can teach them without knowing he teaching them. Just like I was teaching him without knowing I was teaching him,” said Patrick.
The young barber appeared on a recent appearance on the talk show where he showed off his skills on one of the show's producers.
"I’m going to do a good job on The Steve Harvey Show and make my city proud,” Quinelius said in August.
And he made good on his word. He had the audience shook.
