Desperate times call for desperate measures, and for a recently terminated AT&T worker, that measure was stealing money while setting up an unsuspecting customer’s wifi.
A Florida woman took to her Instagram in frustration after an AT&T Tech worker allegedly stole $50 from her via Cash App. According to the post from @candycoatedgear, the tech came to her house to set up her wifi. In the process of "testing the wifi," he proceeded to send himself money under a fake name. Perhaps he thought she wouldn't notice, but she did and she didn't bite her tongue when confronting him about it.
"PISSEDDDDD OFFFFFF!!!!!" her caption reads. "AT&T TECH CAME TO MY HOUSE TO SET UP INTERNET, ASKED TO USE MY PHONE TO “TEST THE WIFI” AND THEN CASHAPP HIMSELF $50 OFF MY PHONE !!!!! CRAZY PART IS, THE ACCOUNT IS LINKED TO MY FIANCÉ NAME AND HE WAS AT THE DAMN BANK WHEN IT WENT THROUGH!!!!! IM SO HOTTTT IM SHAKING!!"
When asked why he would do something like this, he initially saidnhe didn’t have an answer, but later tried to explain that he has a fiance who passed away and kids. He eventually asked how they can "make this right," but the woman tells him he needed to call her husband and make it right with him as the money came out of his account.
While AT&T has not released a statement on the incident, the woman said that he has been fired. According to the video, the man had been with the company for five years.
