In case you missed it last Friday (Feb. 7) one of my favorite recent films is airing again on the CW network, on Tuesday, February 11th @ 8:00 PM EST.

That film ‘Attack the Block’ is a 2011 British sci-fi/horror film written and directed by Joe Cornish in his directorial debut, starring a mostly minority cast. It has been called “Goonies meets The Warriors meets Predator” by fans and “Super 8 Mile,” by the young cast.

The film has been beloved by audiences and critics alike, scoring a whopping 90% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and winning the Audience Award for Best Film at the SXSW (South By Southwest) film festival in 2011.

The film stars Jodie Whittaker, Nick Frost, Luke Treadaway and what I think was a star making performance by John Boyega.

Boyega has been working steadily since ‘Attack the Block,’ and this summer will be featured in the return of the Fox series ’24’ in ’24: Live Another Day,’ as well as the novel adaptation ‘Half of a Yellow Sun.’

You can read my enthusiastic review of Attack the Block on the ‘Nother Brother Entertainment blog http://notherbrother.blogspot.com/2011/05/best-horror-movie-ive-seen-in-long-time.html.
