Beverly is a lawyer by profession who is certified as a USAT Level 1 Triathlon Coach and as a USMS Levels 1 and 2 Swim Coach. She has become deeply involved in providing coaching, instructional support and advocacy for diversity in aquatics. As founder of SBR4Life, a swim and triathlon program, Beverly leads a team of coaches training new swimmers and short and mid distance athletes. The triathlon training model is used as a draw to teach people of color how to swim. SBR4Life’s leadership in the metro Atlanta community has led to collaboration with Morehouse School of Medicine, University of Minnesota and University of Alabama to develop a research-action agenda focused on community centered physical activity promotion approaches for African Americans. Her education and training credentials include a Juris Doctor degree, a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and swim coaching, instruction and officiating certifications/licenses.
