Jessica Orenstein is a black American public health practitioner striving to ensure all youth and adults, regardless of their background, can achieve access to equitable health care. Growing up in a small town in Illinois, just east of St. Louis, Mo, Jessica saw the social determinants to health and healthcare disparities that stemmed from being of a particular racial/ethnic background, socio-economic, or educational status. The desire to join forces with other change-makers in the field of public health was sparked at an early age, but her journey came with many twists and turns that made every achievement even more worthwhile. Jessica's work in the field of public health is fueled by her passion for youth development and has contributed to her work as a thought leader, innovator, and capacity builder across the country. Currently, Jessica works at a local NYC nonprofit where she devotes her time building strategy for how high schools throughout the country can enhance the mental health of all students within a given school community. Considered to be a laugh expert and great storyteller, Jessica loves spending time with family and friends, traveling, and taking walks!
