Before she becames the Nina Simone we all know and love, she was Eunice Kathleen Waymon, born in Tryon, North Carolina, to Mary Kate Waymon, a Methodist minister and a housemaid, and John Divine Waymon, a handyman who also owned a dry cleaning business.

For the last 10 years, since her death in 2003, a plan to preserve the house where she was born in Tryon, at 30 E. Livingston St, has been in the works, which will make the home a lasting memorial, in honor of Simone, her talent and accomplishments. And that effort will apparently be documented in a new reality TV series, which will see home restoration company Nineteenth Century Restorations, restore houses that were the birthplaces and childhood homes of celebrities. 

Other birthplace homes that are on the list for possible restoration on this reality TV show, include the birth homes of Rosa Parks, Jimi Hendrix, Woodie Guthrie, and others.

Those involved in the project envision kind of niche series where "reality TV and documentaries come together."

PBS and the History Channel are seen as potential homes for the series.
