A Black disabled veteran and his wife have filed a $5 million-plus civil lawsuit against a Buffalo Wild Wings location in the suburbs of Washington, D.C., after receiving a takeout receipt with a racial slur written on it.
The Lomans’ lawsuit and Buffalo Wild Wings incident, explained
Marc Loman, 37, and his wife, Natasha Loman, 48, initially filed the suit last month in Prince William County Circuit Court and later transferred it to the federal court on Nov. 13, 2025, according to The Independent.
The incident happened on Nov. 2, 2024, when the couple dined at a Buffalo Wild Wings in Woodbridge, Virginia. At the time, they placed an order with the manager on duty, ate their food inside the establishment and had leftover potato wedges wrapped up to take home. They later realized that the word “n*gs” was printed on the to-go bag and receipt.
Natasha left a one-star review on Yelp, explaining the couple’s experience at the restaurant chain location: “It’s 2024 and a manager at Buffalo Wild Wings store #280 Woodbridge VA did not ask for a name for take out order but has the audacity [to] put ‘@n*gs’ for our names.”
‘This lady has lost her mind’
She also shared a TikTok video recounting the ordeal the couple had at the restaurant. Natasha said they went to the Woodbridge location around 1:30 a.m. on Nov. 2, 2024, and placed an order of potato wedges. The kitchen manager did not ask for their names; they ate some of their food and took the rest home. Later that morning, they went to reheat their food and noticed the racial epithet on the receipt.
After showing a copy of the receipt in the video, Natasha said, “It’s 2024; this lady has lost her mind,” and that she knew what her next move would be, but wanted some suggestions from viewers. Some called for a boycott of the location; others suggested she call the corporate office to report the incident.
What did Buffalo Wild Wings say?
She and Marc then filed a complaint with the Buffalo Wild Wings corporate office about the ordeal, according to the suit. The following day, they received a call from the Buffalo Wild Wings vice president, confirming that the kitchen manager on duty that night “had intentionally placed the racial slur on their order,” and had since been fired from the Woodbridge location, The Independent reported.
The incident was “especially painful” for Marc, who “has been subjected to racial animus and harassment in the past,” the complaint states. This experience has led to “deep emotional wounds” reminiscent of the racism he faced during his childhood growing up in the Deep South.
The Lomans are seeking a $5 million judgment and $350,000 in punitive damages from Buffalo Wild Wings and its parent company, Blazin’ Wings, Inc., plus pre- and post-judgment interest, court costs, and attorneys’ fees, per the outlet.
