Model, activist, feminist, and actress Yara Shahidi has accomplished more in 17 years than most people do in a lifetime. Aside from nailing the role of Zoey Johnson on the groundbreaking ABC series Black-ish, in recent years the talented actress has taken an outspoken stance advocating for diverse representation in media while also serving as brand ambassador for Ivy Park. Yara has been slaying the game since she was six-years-old, and she's just getting started.
In continuing her trend of pure excellence, when it came time to apply for college admissions, Shahidi casually obtained a recommendation letter from none other than First Lady Michelle Obama. No one was surprised when the actress revealed in April, that she was admitted to every school that she applied to. After several months of consideration, Shahidi has revealed that she will be attending Harvard!
On Tuesday, the actress posted a picture of herself on Instagram wearing a Harvard University sweatshirt. The caption read: “The paradox of education is precisely this – that as one begins to become conscious one begins to examine the society in which he is being educated.” ~ James Baldwin #CrimsonPride”
Shahidi's actual college experience will be paralleled on the small screen as in an ABC spin-off show centered around her character on Black-ish, which will follow her character to college.
Congrats Yara, thrive on!
