April is that sweet spot of month here in the DMV—not too cold, but not too hot. The cherry blossoms are out, the birds are chirping, and the air is fresh and breezy. For a brief moment we get to enjoy a fairly snow, sweat, and humidity free climate. April is also the best time to switch up your beauty routine and prepare for summer. Here are some beauty product picks to help you say goodbye to winter and hello to summer.
Gigi Brazilian Waxing Kit (Hard Wax):
Buying a wax kit has been one of the best beauty investments I’ve made. For the cost of a bikini and eyebrow wax session, you can own a complete wax kit that will provide you with several waxes. I purchased Gigi’s kit after doing research on other models. I opted for the hard wax starter package because it was the type of wax that I was most accustomed to using. I’ve had my kit for almost a year now and waxing is not as painful anymore. Plus, I’m glad I no longer have to bare it all to strangers. *
St. Ives Fresh Skin Apricot Scrub:
Wintertime usually leaves me with patches of pesky dry, dead skin. Let your skin glow by sloughing away scaly patches with a body scrub. For head-to-toe exfoliation, I use St. Ives scrubs once a month on my face and at least twice a month on my body. Be prepared to have luminous, baby soft skin.**
Dickinson’s Pore Perfecting Toner:
If you’re like me, you probably have mini-craters on your face that claim to be pores. You’ve probably also spent a lot of money trying to find the perfect toner to close those bad boys up. Dickinson’s toners are the best that I’ve yet to find. Their toners leave your skin refreshed, but not dried out like other brands. It’s gentle enough to use several applications throughout the day. I use it to take off my makeup and before I moisturize my face.
Kiehl’s Crème de Corps:
After all that waxing, scrubbing and toning make sure to moisturize your skin. Kiehl’s Crème de Corps is a body lotion that goes on thick but isn’t oily or greasy. Add a little bit to your face moisturizer for a smooth base to apply your foundation or bb cream on.
*Disclaimer: learn how to wax from a professional or take the time to read the instructions VERY, VERY thoroughly. Burning the sensitive-bits is not a good feeling or a pretty sight.
**You may or may not, establish a habit of running your fingers across your skin. It’s seriously hard to resist the feeling of silky smooth skin.
