Everyone knows that music is the foundation of a good house party, and the upcoming Blavity House Party Music Festival is no exception. The inaugural edition of the festival will take place in Nashville from June 13-16 for a weekend packed with music and culture.

June 13 features events paying homage to our host city, including the Cashville Local Legends Celebration and the NashFEELS — House of Feels Kick-Off Party. June 14 is the official Day 1 for the big stage with Lil Wayne taking the stage along with Ryan Leslie, Dru Hill, BLXST and more.

Following up on June 15 is Uncle Waffles, Big Freedia and a performance from Monica you can’t miss. We close out on June 16, starting with some relaxation and recovery and then more food at the PVO Nashville Brunch Party and dinner at Slim & Husky’s.

At the center of it all will be resident DJs including, Mini Skrrt, Ruff and DJ AMH, who are ready to keep the party going. Get to know our vibe curators below!

Mini Skrrt

With an eye for fashion and content creation, Mini Skrrt will surely add style to the stage. Her background in production has made her an expert in controlling the crowd with creative sound design and innovative techniques, often incorporating unconventional sounds and samples.

“I take a lot of pride in my song selection,” she said.

Her unique DJ name came from her love for the closet staple of the same name, a small testament to her love of the runway.

“My big goal this year is to DJ in the fashion space. I would love to DJ at NY Fashion Week for an after-party or a show,” said Mini Skrrt.

Mini Skrrt says that 90s R&B and hip hop are her “pocket,” but she is known to have some tricks up her sleeve.

“I can be such a rager, and I love house music. I love Jersey club. I love like reggaeton and dancehall,” she said.

No matter what she spins, Mini Skrrt promises to keep the party “lit,” but she gave us a sneak peek into what the partygoers should expect.

“Anything that can get your body moving but also sing your heart out! Blavity House Party can expect to have fun, expect a lot of sing-alongs and hopefully to dance until you sweat,” she said.

Ruff

Like his significant other and stage partner, Mini Skrrt, Ruff’s start as a DJ was unplanned but destined. The self-proclaimed “music aficionado” jumped in the DJ booth for the first time after being encouraged by a friend. While DJing was a new hobby, Ruff has always loved music.

He said, “I always loved downloading music. I listen to almost every genre you can think of.”

He began curating a playlist, “Smooth Commute,” which gained enough traction for him to turn it into a physical event.

“It started as just playing around with friends and letting them hear what my music taste is like,” the Tennessee native said.

Ruff claimed the main thing that makes him a great DJ is his ability to “read the crowd” and know what they want.

“I’m big on the crowd participation. I’m big on dancing. I’m big on making sure that everybody is enjoying themselves. But it does take the ability to keep an eye on those small details for you to notice for that to actually happen and come to fruition,” Ruff said.

Ruff’s sets include an eclectic mix of everything from amapiano and R&B to Kaytranda-style funk and southern trap classics. Ruff looks forward to performing in front of his hometown crowd for the first time but says he won’t tolerate people standing around.

“I don’t like wallflowers,” he joked. “I encourage dancing. I encourage movement.”

DJ AMH

DJ AMH knows how to keep a party going on stage and through the airwaves. He began his DJ career with a gig on his college radio station, and now he’s one of Philidelphia’s leading vibe curators as the on-air mixer for 100.3RnB and host of U+ME+RNB traveling music party. He favors using R&B as a surprising bridge between hip-hop and dancehall to bring people back to the moment and engage.

“We get the energy building, and now we hit them with the hits. Sometimes you have to try things, and through the experience of trying things out, you’ll eventually figure it out,” AMH says of his fail-proof plan to hook the crowd.

AMH gets inspired by attending other DJs’ events and listening to countless playlists across all genres. However, he says the best way to stay ahead of the music curve is to go straight to the source and keep his ear to the streets.

“When I was learning what I really wanted to play in the south, I would talk to girls from Alabama to Atlanta. They would tell me, ‘You gotta hear this, or you gotta hear that’,” he said.

Although he has an affinity for R&B, AMH plans to hit the Blavity House Party Music Festival with a mash-up of everything from dancehall, southern hip hop, reggaeton and more.

Staying true to his party-pleasing methods, AMH wants to know what the crowd coming to the House Party wants to hear. He urged partyers to connect with him on social media.

“Send me a message, send me a story, put it under a comment,” he suggested. “I’ll send a ‘like.’ That’s how you know I’m a real one.”
