Apparently, the folks over at the ultra-conservative, right-wing Breitbart News had an epiphany, suddenly they really, REALLY want to support black lives. Or, at least that's what the media outlet would have us to believe by their conjured fake outrage in response to a Black Lives Matter meeting to be hosted on April 15th by the organization's Philadelphia branch.
In response to the blow-back, meeting organizers released a two-page statement defending the designation of their April meeting as a "black only space" for its members "to strategize, organize, heal."

The statement read in part: "During the last 36 hours, Black Lives Matter Philly (BLM Philly) has been attacked online and the subject of several right-wing media articles about our April open meeting invitation that states it is a Black only space. … We are unapologetically Black and believe having Black only spaces — where Black people can come together to strategize, organize, heal and fellowship without the threat of violence and co-optation — is an important part of Black liberation." The #MoreThanAMeeting hashtag was created, and the social media responses came rolling in.
There was support.

And irony.
You know what is interesting abt these attacks on @BLMPhilly & their Explicitly Black meetings? No one cares when a faith self segregates…

At the end of the day, black people are the actual targets of the injustices that Black Lives Matter was founded to combat. For us, this is not some trending moment or tone-deaf Pepsi commercial co-opting our struggle. Our lives are at stake. We will not be distracted.
@BLMPhilly these are just distractions, and worst of all sometimes our own people can't find the value in Black space. Keep working!
