Boris Kodjoe pulled up on his daughter during homecoming weekend. The captured moment was one for the books. On Sunday, the 50-year-old shared a cute video of him surprising his daughter Sophie at her first Howard University Homecoming weekend. The video clip showed the 18-year-old swaying to music while her father quietly stood behind her. Moments later, she feels something touch her leg and screams out of shock. “When mommy is on FaceTime telling her that we’ll see her on Thanksgiving and daddy shows up out of nowhere and surprises her… #ParentalTeamWork #SheForgotDaddyHadBackSurgery #HadToActivateTheGlutesRealQuick #HUHomecomingScenes #YouKnow,” Kodjoe wrote in his caption.

Sophie was so excited to see her father that she forgot about his recent back surgery, which he joked about in his written caption. The HU freshman excitedly jumped into his arms, bringing him slightly to the ground as they embraced. After the excitement, Sophie remembered her mother, actress Nicole Ari Parker, was still on FaceTime. The two laughed before Sohpie yelled, “Yay!” at the camera.

During Sophie’s freshman move-in day, Kodjoe honored her new milestone at Howard with a nostalgic post. On Instagram, Kodjoe posted a slideshow featuring childhood photos of Sophie. The sweet post mentioned how his daughter’s confidence and love for life have made them proud parents.

“Happy first day of school, Sophie-cakes,” he wrote in the caption. “You had to figure out a lot as a young girl. To see you get ready to soar into your life with certainty and confidence makes all the sense in the world to us. We love you, and we are so proud of you. ❤️ You got next!”
