The Real Housewives of Potomac star Candiace Dillard Bassett is sharing details of a fight that took place while filming the Season 8 finale and also giving her thoughts on the upcoming season.

She insists she was prepping to defend herself in the fight that saw blows being traded between an upcoming friend of the show, Keiana Stewart, and another woman who has shown up in episodes, Deborah Williams.

Dillard Bassett says this season was hardest for her, even harder than season 5, which had the show’s most explosive altercation prior to this, which involved her and Monique Samuels.

According to Dillard Bassett, she was prepared to defend herself from a “monster”

“A drink was thrown at my back and I see this monster coming at me,” she said, seemingly referring to Williams, as Bossip reports. “There was no security around. She strategically waited for security and production to back away. I’m going to defend myself.”

She added, “And I will pick up whatever is in arm’s reach if I feel like I am in some sort of danger. And I didn’t know what she was going to do. You can’t rationalize crazy or unhinged. I don’t fight but I also don’t run—you’re also not going to physically attack me and I not defend myself.”

Talking about the season overall, she said, “Season 8 is different. There’s a clear divide this season that I think we’ve not experienced before.”

“I saw a lot of different sides of people this season, people surprised me in the worst way,” she added. “You think you know folk and in a moment of desperation what the saints and the aints will do to save themselves is interesting. It was probably my hardest season, I would take the perils of season 5 over this season.”

No word yet when the new season will premiere, but it is in post-production.
