Eddie Murphy makes a dangerous wish with a mischievous elf all to win his neighborhood Christmas decoration contest in the new trailer for Candy Cane Lane.
The Prime Video film shows Murphy in his comedic element as a jolly dad whose biggest dream in life is to have his house designated as the best decorated home in his community. However his deal with the devil (or in this case, an elf played by Jillian Bell) put his family (including his wife Carol, played by Tracee Ellis Ross) and his neighborhood in chaos.

Eddie Murphy stars in this holiday comedy adventure about a man on a mission to win his neighborhood’s annual Christmas home decoration contest. After Chris (Eddie Murphy) inadvertently makes a deal with a mischievous elf named Pepper (Jillian Bell) to better his chances of winning, she casts a magic spell that brings the 12 Days of Christmas to life, and wreaks havoc on the whole town. At the risk of ruining the holidays for his family, Chris, his wife Carol (Tracee Ellis Ross), and their three children must race against the clock to break Pepper’s spell, battle deviously magical characters, and save Christmas for everyone.
The film also stars Robin Thede, Chris Redd, Thaddeus J. Mixson, Ken Marino, Nick Offerman, Genneya Walton, Madison Thomas, Anjelah Johnson-Reyes, Lombardo Boyar, D.C. Young Fly, Danielle Pinnock, Timothy Simons, Riki Lindhome and Stephen Tobolwsky.
As reported previously, Candy Cane Lane is based on writer Kelly Younger’s memories of the real Candy Cane Lane in El Segundo, CA. The film is directed by Reginald Hudlin and produced by Brian Grazer, the same team behind Murphy’s hit ’90s comedy, Boomerang.
