Cardi B has helped revenue skyrocket for Playboy, whose parent company is the PLBY Group, mostly due to the Centerfold platform she spearheaded at the company, according to All Hip Hop.

In May, the PLBY Group released a press release providing information about its first-quarter revenue for 2022. According to Seeking Alpha, its year-over-year revenue has grown 63% and is now $69.4 million. The PLBY Group’s direct-to-consumer revenue also spiked, growing 125% year-over-year to $49.6 million.

“Our strong first quarter with 63% year-over-year growth, robust demand for our iconic brand and consumer products, and continued progress on our digital roadmap for Centerfold, are coming together into one cohesive Playboy ecosystem creating a flywheel driving long-term growth,” Ben Kohn, PLBY Group’s CEO, said in the press release.

He continued, saying that “with Playboy’s massive global reach and Centerfold as a valuable engine for organic customer acquisition, we believe we can drive significant growth across PLBY Group’s product offerings.”

Cardi B has been credited for the company’s resurgence and financial gain. As Blavity previously reported, the “I Like It” rapper made history when she was named Playboy magazine’s first creative director in residence in December. A press release obtained by People said that in the role, the 29-year-old would “provide artistic direction across co-branded fashion and sexual wellness merchandise collections, digital editorial, experiential activations and more.”

The “Up” rapper is also a founding member of the Centerfold platform that, as she described in the press release, helps creators “express themselves freely and unfiltered” and “feel safe in their creativity and sexuality.”

“And they deserve to own their future. This is what Centerfold is all about,” she said in the statement. “For all those creators out there doing bold, revolutionary, truly culture-shifting things, come join me.”

Cardi B is using her own personal platform to reach a new audience for Playboy. According to All Hip Hop, the rapper took to social media to promote a Playboy clothing collection. She tweeted a video of her showing off Playboy branded apparel. The post has since garnered over 1.6 million views. She shared the same video on TikTok, which has now racked up more than 2 million views.
