Four white men in blackface are being investigated by police after showing up to the Aberaeron Carnival in Ceredigion, Wales as the Jamaican bobsled team from Cool Runnings.

Dinah Mulholland, Ceredigion’s Labour party candidate in June’s General Election, posted photos of the men online during the Monday, Aug. 28 Carnival.

“Utterly horrified to see this from Aberaeron Carnival," she said. "How on earth could this have been considered acceptable, or even legal, by the Carnival organizers?”

Dressed in fake locs and wearing mock-up uniforms from the 1993 film, the group of carnival-goers strutted up and down the street with confidence. The film, loosely based on the 1988 Jamaican bobsled team in the Calgary Winter Olympics, became an enduring Disney classic. However, this may not have been the right way to show it love.

After photos surfaced and a complaint received, police announced that they would look into the incident as a "hate incident."

“Dyfed-Powys Police received a report of a perceived hate incident, which occurred at Aberaeron Carnival on Monday, August 28. An entry to the carnival parade was considered racist. Enquiries are being made by local officers.”
