So I guess it worked?

It was 2 weeks ago when Cedric the Entertainer took to social media sties to ask his many followers and fans to take action and save his TV Land sitcom – The Soul Man – from being put to bed, and instead ensure that it's renewed for a second season.

Specifically, Cedric included a letter which he asked his fans to sign with their names, and send to MTV Networks, asking them to bring back the show, which pulled in 1.9 million viewers during its 10pm debut time slot, making it TV Land's second highest-rated original series debut ever.

Last night, Cedric posted the following on Twitter:

"Just got word #TheSoulMan has been picked up for season #2.Thank all of you who wrote in and/or just watched me @niecynash bout to Turn Up!"

There it is!

The series finished its 12-episode season 1 averaging 1 million total viewers, a drop of almost 50% from its record-setting season debut episode.

The series is a spinoff of Hot in Cleveland, and stars Cedric as Rev. Boyce "The VoiceBallantine, a former R & B singer turned minister, who takes over his father's church.

Niecy Nash plays his wife., while Jazz Raycole plays his daughter LyricJohn Beasley as Boyce’s father, Barton, and Wesley Jonathan as his brother, Stamps.

The Soul Man was heavily marketed to African American audiences, with the intent being to attract new audiences to the network.
