The 69th Emmy Awards nominees were announced recently and though the list contained some names we've seen many times, an unexpected contender also appeared: Chance The Rapper!

The Coloring Book artist has been nominated for an Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics Emmy for his role in the "Jingle Barack" sketch and his performance of "Last Christmas" on Saturday Night Live.

The song is a parody of Run DMC's "Christmas in Hollis."

"Jingle Barack" was co-written by Chance, Kenan Thompson and Will Stephen.

This has been an all-around stellar year for the Chi-town native. From his Coloring Book tour, to his acceptance of the 2017 BET Humanitarian Award, to his racking up Grammys, Chance never ceases to make us proud.

Chance too, was pretty happy with the news.

And, he was more than happy to share the spotlight, acknowledging that he didn't write the now Emmy-nominated song alone.

Chance isn't the only rapper to be nominated for an Emmy this year. Snoop Dogg, LL Cool J, Common and Donald "Childish Gambino" Glover accompany the 24-year-old..

Congratulations to Chance! You deserve it.
