As many of us know, educators are some of the most overworked and under appreciated people. Seeing that Chance The Rapper is not one to shy away from giving folks their roses while they can still smell them, he wants to give educators the love they deserve.

The Chicago native revealed that he is organizing the inaugural Twilight Awards,  which is set to be held in June 2018. The ceremony will be hosted by James Corden, and aims to celebrate “teachers, parents, principals and students that convey leadership,” Chance said in his announcement last Friday. The show will be held in his hometown and will feature guest performances.

The announcement came at the end of a summit for his charity SocialWorks. During the summit, he pledged a $2.2 million donation to 20 Chicago public schools. The summit was a Steve Jobs-inspired event where Chance gave an update on the nonprofit’s progress since he launched it a year ago.

“Every contribution … brings this city and this nation closer to providing a well-rounded quality education for each and every child,” he said at the event. “Funding quality education for public [school] students is the most important investment a community can make.”

At this year's BET Awards, the rapper shared an incredible speech that stressed his own personal sense of duty to improve not only his local community but communities all over the world.

To be receiving something like this at my age," he began. "It feels a little early to be getting something like this, but my God doesn’t make mistakes, and I like to think that he’s putting this enormous pressure on me to see how I react."

"I want to be more involved outside just my community of Chicago," he added. "I want to travel overseas and help out people all over the world. And like I said, being 24 and getting something like this, it doesn’t feel deserved yet. But like I said – my God is putting the pressure on me so I can become who I’m supposed to be."

We see you, Lil Chano from 79th, and we love what you're doing.
