The film industry stepped out for the 2026 Oscars held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday night. Chase Infiniti, who starred in Best Picture winner One Battle After Another, was in attendance alongside her co-stars. As she walked the red carpet, an E! commentator described her hairstyle as “undone” while discussing her look, according to The Grio.

A reporter called Chase Infiniti’s braids ‘undone’

Infiniti arrived at the event in a custom Louis Vuitton gown and a beauty look featuring lilac eye makeup and boho knotless braids.

“Let’s think about this awesome, almost like undone hair with the done dress,” E! commentator Zanna Roberts Rassi said to describe her beauty look, according to The Grio. “Actually, it’s mirroring the ruffles on the dress, that beautiful hair.”

The comment quickly drew criticism from fans, who lamented the commentator’s choice of words to describe Infiniti’s hair. The actress’s hairstyle is a very common way of braiding hair.

Celebrity hairstylist Coree Moreno created the look and shared behind-the-scenes photos and videos. “The entire process means everything to me – from prep to the big day,” Moreno wrote in an Instagram post.

Chase Infiniti has said she’s ‘intentional’ about her hair presentation during awards season

During the press tour for One Battle After Another, Infiniti highlighted her hair on red carpets and sported a variety of hairstyles featuring her natural texture.

“It is intentional,” she told Essence while rocking the red carpet at the 2026 Oscars. “I’m in this very fortunate place where I have an incredible team around me, and we can showcase curls in their full beauty and also show that, like, they can be dressed up, and you don’t have to show up with a silk press to every event because that’s what is, I guess, palatable for people. So I think it’s important to showcase our hair and the versatility of our hair, because we can do so much with it, like even getting to do braids today.”

Details of Chase Infiniti’s Oscars look

The actress became a brand ambassador for Louis Vuitton in December, according to Harper’s Bazaar. Louis Vuitton designed a custom gown for her appearance at the Oscars — a long lilac dress with spaghetti straps, a cowl neckline and a cascading train with ruffles. The look was created by the famed celebrity styling duo Wayman and Micah.
