This shouldn't happen.

After a weekend of NFL protests in wake of President Donald Trump's comments calling for the firing of any NFL player who chooses to protest, two Chicago police officers may be punished for their support of Kap and kneeling against racism.

According to The Chicago Tribune, the two police officers will receive reprimands and be reminded of department policies for a photo they took with local Chicago activist Aleta Clark on Sunday.

“We will address it in the same way we have handled previous incidents in which officers have made political statements while in uniform,” the Chicago Police Department spokesperson explained.

Clark's Instagram photo garnered nearly 2000 likes after it was posted. The post included a caption that praised the two unnamed officers for taking a stand against police brutality.

“That Moment when you walk into the police station and ask the Men of Color are they Against Police Brutality and Racism & they say Yes… then you ask them if they support Colin Kaepernick… and they also say yes… then you ask them to Kneel.!"

More than 100 players— with estimates claiming the number were into the 200s—came out in support of Colin Kaepernick by kneeling, raising fists or sitting out the national anthem in defiance of Trump.

When Clark caught wind of the two officers possibly being punished for standing against injustice, she had a few things to say to the local press in support of them.

These two officers were a few brave men to risk their livelihoods to demand change in this society and they should not be punished for doing so.
