No need to tell you that CNN weekend anchor Don Lemon
has been the subject of controversy of late. And whether you agree with some of
his recent public stands on current issues of the day or don’t, one thing is for
sure – and that is that, whether you like him or not, he has given
CNN something of an “edge”, a personality, which is something that has worked very well for MSNBC and Fox News.
And no doubt, seeing the attention that Lemon has been getting lately and the potential for ratings, CNN has followed suit and will be giving Lemon
his own primetime show, five days a week on the network.
The show will air starting next month, at the 11PM (10 PM Central) time slot, which is
currently being held by reruns of Outfront
hosted by Erin Burnett.
In addition, Lemon will also be subbing for
Burnett on her own show while she is out on maternity leave.
It has been reported that Lemon has already informed his
staff of the change in regards to his new daily show, which will be “a
one-topic show tackling important issues of the day, either reported or vastly
underreported, from Lemon’s unique perspective.”
