If it’s not one thing, it’s another.

Female rapper, Coi Leray, should be basking in the release of her debut album, Trendsetter, and her flaming hot “Blick Blick” collaboration with Nicki Minaj. Instead, she’s having to address the fiasco of haters, internet trolls and fake accounts.

It all started when DJ Akademiks shared a tweet that alleged that the 24-year-old rapper’s debut album sales were on pace to sell only 11,000 copies in its first week.

Leray, who had spent days retweeting positive reactions since her album’s release on April 8, decided to address the criticism with a positive attitude.

“God has been the best father to me. I can’t complain about anything.” she tweeted. “My debut album is amazing, and not one song can you say is bad. It’s been five days. I understand Coi Leray is so viral & works good on blogs headlines but trust me; it’s all part of the game. Just ride out and stay focus.”

She also reminded her followers that she doesn’t “fold under pressure” and  has “thick skin.” The only thing that can stop or slow her down is herself.

In May of 2021, the “TWINNEM” rapper shared that she had high hopes for her debut album and was looking forward to reaching #1 on the charts.

Adding to all the criticism from haters was a fake Instagram account pretending to be her father, Benzino. The account reposted DJ Akademik’s tweet about Coi Leray’s first week sales.

“If she had a track with @iambenzino, I woulda listened @coileray,” the fake account wrote.

The real Benzino was quick to address the fake account on Twitter.

“I lost @iambenzino a year ago on IG… My legal team is about to go hammer time on anyone who has defamed my name and legacy,” he wrote. “Oh yea, and why would I laugh at Coi? She’s one [of] the best things that I am. I [am] very proud of her and her accomplishments.”

Leray’s most recent collaborator, Nicki Minaj, has also chimed in to share her thoughts on Trendsetter, sharing her favorite tracks on the album with her Twitter followers and then reposting to her Instagram story.

Final sales figures for Coi Leray’s Trendsetter won’t be available until Monday, April 18. Figures are also expected for fellow rapper, Fivio Foreign’s debut album, B.I.B.L.E.
