Combat Jack was a trailblazer in the hip-hop community, doing amazing things for the culture. He once represented some of the biggest artists in hip-hop including Jay Z as a hip-hop music attorney and executive. He received a law degree from Georgetown University Law Center but it was really his internship in legal affairs for Def Jam Recordings that put him in the game. After 12 years of practicing law, he retired and entered the editorial path. He wrote and published Bling, a book highlighting hip hop's fascination with jewelry. He went on to serve as the Vice President of Audio/Music DVD at MTV Networks and was also the managing editor of hip-hop magazine, The Source. The culture mourns the loss of the Brooklyn native. it is without a doubt that he had long reached legendary status.
Hip Hop lost a major voice today. RIP Combat Jack ????????

“Internets, you know what time it is: Dream them dreams
then man-up and live them dreams, because a life without dreams is black and white,
and the universe flows in technicolor and surround-sound. Blaow!”RIP Combat Jack

RIP Combat Jack. No words suffice to capture the multitudes he possessed. A rap encyclopedia who could spin stories about both Bronx block parties & the Paradise Garage. A brilliant interviewer & attorney. A kind gentle soul who understood & cared about the culture like no other.
