Right down the street from Donald Trump, white supremacists are back at it again. American University has been plagued with a taunting device once again. No stranger to passive-aggressive racism, this isn't the first time items were placed around campus to insult black students. Earlier this year, bananas hung by nooses were placed all over campus to taunt members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc.

The Washington Post reports that at least 10 confederate flag posters with cotton attached to them were spotted in three different locations on American University campus Tuesday night.

“This act occurred the same evening Dr. Ibram Kendi presented ‘A Vision for Equality,’ an introduction to the Antiracist Research and Policy Center. AU is committed to the vision of the Center and Dr. Kendi’s work and we will not be deterred by this cowardly attempt at intimidation,” Vice President Of Campus Life Dr. Fanta Aw wrote.

Sylvia M. Burwell, the university’s president, said that cameras caught suspects hanging posters. The suspect of these crimes is a white male around the age of 40.

We just have to wonder how people keep getting away with things like this. American University has asked that if anyone has any information to contact the office of Public Safety immediately.

“We must stand together strongly against this act, which was intended to frighten and divide our community,” Burwell said in the statement. “I ask you to join me in standing together and show that we will not be intimidated. AU will respond strongly to attempts designed to harm and create fear. Instead, we will recommit to creating a community that does not stand by. When one of us is attacked, all of us are attacked.”

Funny how people claim that the Confederate flag is not a symbol of hate, yet it is used as a prop in a hate crime.
