A New Jersey man mysteriously died days after leaving a local police station, and his family wants answers.

According to NBC New York 4, the 27-year-old recorded himself inside police headquarters via his Facebook page where he repeatedly asked officers for water.

“I need water, I've got to throw up," the man identified as Jameek Lowery pleaded. "Can y'all please give me some water? Look at my lips."

The preliminary investigation by the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office revealed the young man initially called 911 around 2:45 a.m. on Sunday, stating he was feeling paranoid after taking ecstasy. He was taken to a local hospital by EMS before he left and called again at 3:40 a.m. from a nearby Wendy's.

After leaving the restaurant, Lowery went to the Paterson Police headquarters where officers told him they could not offer him water, prosecutors say.

"We aren't allowed to," one officer said in response.

"Please help me," he begged. "Please don't kill me though."

North Jersey reported Lowery was transported to St. Joseph's University Medical Center where he died two days later after being placed on life support. Lowery, the father of three children ranging in ages from 8 years old to 11 months, believed the officers were going to kill him.

"They want to give a reason to shoot me," he said in the live recording. "Ma, I'm sorry, they goin' do this to me, they goin' to kill your baby boy."

Law enforcement officers involved in the matter are on administrative leave during the investigation. Lowery's family members including his brother, Jamir King, believe there is more to the story. King reported his brother suffered from a fractured eye socket and broken cheekbone before his death.

“His face wasn’t like that in the video,” King said. “What happened during that time?”

According to ABC 7 NY, protestors filled the streets outside of City Hall on Tuesday wanting answers regarding the mysterious death.

"He was extremely paranoid, he was terrified, and he had no shoes on," Black Lives Matter protestor Hawk Newsome said. "What I did notice was his face looked good, and within a few hours he was dead."
