Production begins this week in Los Angeles on season 3 of Disney+’s High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.
The streamer revealed that original franchise star Corbin Bleu will guest star in the series. He won’t be reprising his role of Chad Danforth….he’s actually playing himself.
Disney mainstays past and present Meg Donnelly (Zombies franchise) and Jason Earles (Hannah Montana) are also guest starring.
The series is also adding two new series regulars in newcomer Adrian Lyles and Saylor Bell (I Didn’t Do It).
Lyles is Jet, Camp Shallow Lake’s mysterious new kid and Bell is Maddox, a bright-eyed, quick-witted “techie,” who always follows the rules.
Guest stars Donnelly and Earles are Val, a confident and funny college student and longtime camper-turned-Counselor-in-Training, who is ready to choreograph the summer production of Frozen and Dewey Wood, the stone-faced, killjoy of a Camp Director of Camp Shallow Lake.
Created and executive-produced by Tim Federle season three “is set at Camp Shallow Lake, a family-owned sleepaway camp in California, as the Wildcats and their fellow campers stage a high-stakes production of Frozen and determine who is “best in snow.” The season will feature music from Camp Rock and the High School Musical franchise.
Returning cast members are Joshua Bassett (“Ricky”), Matt Cornett (“E.J.”), Sofia Wylie (“Gina”), Julia Lester (“Ashlyn”), Dara Reneé (“Kourtney”), Frankie Rodriguez (“Carlos”), Kate Reinders (“Miss Jenn”), Olivia Rose Keegan (“Lily”) and Olivia Rodrigo (“Nini”).
