Two black women have made history as the first two women to officiate an NBA game together.

The Undefeated's Marc Spears tweeted about the milestone on July 3:

“First time I’ve ever seen two black women referee an NBA game of any kind,” Spears wrote. “Violet Palmer would be proud Danielle Scott and Angelica Suffren reffing at the California Classic Summer League Lakers versus Heat.”

Violet Palmer is one of the two women hired in 1997 as the NBA’s first female referees. Palmer was also the first woman to officiate an NBA playoff game. She retired in 2016.

The Huffington Post reached out to NBA spokesperson Mike Bass who confirmed Scott and Suffren are, in fact, the first two women to officiate together.

Way to go ladies!
