David Gyasi has joined the cast of the new 8-episode BBC drama series The Interceptor, from Tony Saint.
Gyasi will play the lead in the drama project, and will be joined by Trevor Eve, Jo Joyner, and Robert Lonsdale.
The Interceptor follows a state of the art law enforcement team, known as UNIT, whose mission is to hunt down Britain’s most dangerous and ruthless criminals.
David Gyasi will play Ash, a new recruit to the UNIT, whose dream is to bring down the biggest of those criminals. Trevor Eve will play Roach, a ruthless criminal and Ash’s main target; Jo Joyner will play Ash’s wife; Robert Lonsdale will be Ash’s partner and best friend.
Lorraine Ashbourne, Anna Skellern, Gary Beadle and Lee Boardman round out the cast.
Luther helmer Farren Blackburn is attached to direct, with production scheduled to begin next month on location in London, with BBC One eyeing a fall 2014 premiere.
The busy Gyasi will next be seen in Christopher Nolan’s super-secret sci-fi project Interstellar, and will be starring in an upcoming thriller titled Panic – his first true feature film starring role, as he headlines the film which is directed by Sean Spencer. He also joins fellow Brit John Boyega in the BBC Two feature drama titled The Whale, based on the the book, The Loss of the Ship Essex, Sunk by A Whale.
