We all recognize Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs for being a distinguished music mogul throughout the years, and while he always has some new endeavors on deck, this time, he’s giving back to his own community.

The students at Capital Preparatory Bronx Charter School had a hugely memorable moment on Tuesday as they welcomed Combs, who showed up to the school he co-founded unannounced.

The frenzied children screamed with joy and excitement upon his arrival and it was truly something special to witness.  Diddy is heavy on love and the impact he has on the people was definitely felt.

Capital Prep in the Bronx opened its doors in the fall of 2020, during the height of Covid.  This was the business leader’s first visit since he donated $1 million to the school.  This particular location accommodates over 200 underserved students from the 6th grade through the 9th and every year, the goal is to add an additional grade with plans to facilitate 700 students.

Many of us know how important the school system is to Diddy, and Fox 5’s Tashanea Whitlow reminded us of the time he ran the New York City Marathon, raising 4 million dollars.  His ambition was to raise awareness for the public school system. However, he felt that his donation wasn’t impactful enough.  As a result, he decided to take matters into his own hands and start his own school.   Let’s go puff!

“Here we are teaching y’all with intentions to go out and be leaders and go and make sure you don’t have to live in a reality where you have to be special to be successful,” Combs said. “This is truly the dream coming true, you know, being, you know, in Forbes is not the dream coming true.”

“I think when it comes to kids, there’s a lot of bureaucracy, but when it comes to the kids, the kids should come first. And instead of complaining about it, we wanted to do something about it,” he later added.

In true hip-hop fashion, the students faithfully pay homage to the place where it was born.  They had a whole routine prepared and even performed to Diddy’s latest single, “Gotta Move On.”

The schools are modeled after The Capital Prep Magnet School in Hartford, Connecticut, and the Co-Op City location would be the 3rd for Combs and Dr. Steve Perry, the founder of the school.

Their objective is to give historically underprivileged youth the college and career-ready skills they need to become dependable, active citizens for social justice.

Diddy met with educators and community members for five years with talks of increasing academic opportunities for school-aged kids.  Being a financial supporter isn’t the mogul’s only union with the school; he is now also serving as an advisor.

According to the Bronx Times, Capital Preparatory School’s first graduation was back in 2006. Since then, a remarkable 100% of its under-resourced, minority, and first-generation students have been accepted into four-year higher education institutions,

To ensure fairness and equal access, students are admitted by lottery.

“My dream has always been to provide children in communities like the Bronx the high quality education they deserve. We are grooming future leaders that will change their communities and the world!! #DiddyBackInTheCity,” Combs shared on Instagram
