Immigrants and allies will be gathering in front of Trump Tower on Tuesday to protest the Presidents pledge to dismantle an Obama-era program protecting those illegally brought into the country as children. With the pending DACA repeal reportedly set to take place on Tuesday, an advocacy organization for undocumented immigrants called Movimiento Cosecha has organized multiple direct actions that include: School Walkouts, Street Shutdowns, Mass Rallies, and today's Trump Tower Occupation.

With organizing efforts gaining traction on social media, the group's Facebook Page lays out a clear message:

"This fight isn't just for us– this is a fight to win permanent protection, dignity, and respect for all 11 million undocumented immigrants. It’s a fight to get recognition for the economic power that immigrants have and that this country depends on. Just like our parents, our biggest power comes from being workers. We are not just “DREAMers,” we are workers who contribute billions of dollars into the economy. We are part of a workforce that is 11 million strong, and without us, this country cannot function." Event organizers have explicitly called for nonviolent resistance. "Undocumented leadership is explicit that this event is nonviolent in its entirely. Nonviolence is the shield that reflects the true perpetrators of the state violence that our people suffer from daily. We feel pain from the abuses of the police and others, and we will keep exposing their violence through our discipline."

As protestors organize grassroots movements, New York State Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman announced on Monday, that the state will sue feds over the ending of ‘Dreamers’ protections which protect over 42,000 New Yorkers. “If he moves forward with this cruel action, New York State will sue to protect the ‘dreamers’ and the state’s sovereign interest in the fair and equal application of the law,” Cuomo said in a news release published in Newsday, “It will rip families apart, sow havoc in our communities and force innocent people — our neighbors, our friends, and our relatives — to live in fear.”
