Elon Musk was met with a chorus of boos when he joined Dave Chappelle on stage during the comedian’s show at the Chase Center in San Francisco on Sunday. Although phones were not allowed at the show, at least one fan managed to record the incident, Gizmodo reports.

“Make noise for the richest man in the world,” Chappelle said as he introduced the Tesla chief to the audience.

There were a mixture of cheers and boos in the beginning as Chappelle introduced the billionaire businessman. The boos, however, appeared to get louder as Musk prepared to speak.

“You weren’t expecting this, were you?” the unwelcome entrepreneur told Chappelle as the booing persisted.

The comedian tried to brush off the bizarre moment with some jokes.

“It sounds like some of those people you fired are in the audience,” Chappelle said, referring to the reports of Musk firing his employees after taking over as Twitter CEO.

As he became increasingly frustrated with the booing, Chappelle took shoots at the audience.

“All these people that are booing — I’m just pointing out the obvious — they have terrible seats in the stadium,” he said.

The crowd remained defiant as the 49-year-old entertainer implied that Musk is not bothered by the rude greeting.

“His whole business model is f**k Earth, I’m leaving anyway,” Chappelle said, referring to Musk’s attempt to explore space.

Still speaking over the raucous crowd, Chappelle joked that he’s going to space with Musk.

“What kind of p***y they got up there? That’s what we’ll be doing,” he said, adding that he will own “the first comedy club on Mars.”

When Musk took the mic, he said, “Dave, what should I say?”

“Don’t say nothing. It’ll only spoil the moment,” Chappelle said. “Do you hear that sound, Elon? That’s the sound of pending civil unrest. I can’t wait to see what store you decimate next, motherf**ker. You shut the f**k up.”

Chappelle eventually gave up in trying to calm the crowd and walked off the stage.

“I wish everyone in this auditorium peace and the joy of feeling free,” he said. “And your pursuit of happiness. Amen.”

According to Variety, Musk fired the senior management team and appointed himself as CEO when he purchased Twitter. Reports also reveal that he laid off half of Twitter’s 7,500-member workforce and demanded the remaining employees to commit to an “extremely hardcore” work culture.

The disgraced entrepreneur is also irking people with his controversial comments. On Sunday, Musk took shots at Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. Musk, who is still disgruntled with Fauci’s advising on lockdown policies during the COVID-19 crisis, called for the infectious disease expert to be prosecuted.

“My pronouns are Prosecute/Fauci,” Musk tweeted.

Chappelle has also been facing criticism for some of the jokes he makes at his shows, including transphobic comments he made in his Netflix stand-up special The Closer, CNBC reports.
