'A Different World' Netflix Series Sets Dawnn Lewis And Glynn Turman To Return; Tichina Arnold And 2 More Also Cast

The A Different World sequel series at Netflix continues to firm up its cast, adding 2 OG cast members from the original series alongside three others.

Dawnn Lewis, who played Jaleesa Vinson-Taylor in the original, as well as Glynn Turman, who played Col. Bradford Taylor, will reprise their roles.

Newly announced cast members include Tichina Arnold and Darlene Duvall, Joshua Suiter as Andre and Raven Goodwin as Dr. Brooklyn Boyer.

Bell as Ron Johnson, Cree Summer as Freddie Brooks, Charnele Brown as Dr. Kimberly Reese Boyer, Jenifer Lewis as Professor Davenport, Vincent Jamal Hooper as Ellington, Elijah J. Roberts as Jalen, Renee Harrison as Candace, Famecia Ward as Nellie Gaines and Dasan Frazier as Xavier.

What’s the plot of Netflix’s ‘A Different World’?

Moon leads the cast as Deborah Wayne, the youngest daughter of Whitley and Dwayne. Here’s the series description:

When Deborah, Dwayne Wayne, and Whitley Gilbert’s free-spirited, well-intentioned, yet rebellious youngest child, enters her freshman year at Hillman College, she finds the shadow of her parents difficult to escape as she sets out to build her own legacy, while having the time of her life, alongside a whole new generation of Hillman’s best and brightest.

Felicia Pride is the showrunner, executive producer and writer. Debbie Allen, who directed 83 episodes of the original series, returns as a director and executive producer. She is directing three episodes, including the first one of the season.

Original series writers Reggie Rock Bythewood and Gina-Prince Bythewood are executive producing, as are Mandy Summers and Tom Werner. The first season will have 10 half-hour episodes, and the format is single-camera.
